A most blessed Christmastide.   Over this past summer and fall, we have continued the Pilgrimage.  With each stop, I am moved by your faithfulness, hope, life and deep love of Jesus Christ.  The pilgrimage reflects the beauty of our journey together.   I will continue to share the experiences on this blog and will post weekly on Saturday mornings and share highlights of our week together.   Within the blog, I will post current news and events in the diocese and the Episcopal Church. 
CONVENTION

Come and See Pilgrimage - Holy Apostles and the Mediator

My brothers and sisters, I am writing about the pilgrimage one church at a time.  I do so to remain current (albeit a few months behind) with the pilgrimage.  This week we are sharing Holy Apostles and the Mediator.  The Come and See pilgrimage continues with visits to our congregations in the heart of Philadelphia.  West Philadelphia, the University of Pennsylvania, and near City Line Avenue.  Our churches (Holy Apostles, St. Mary's and St. Thomas) are integral to our diocese and important to the people seeking Christ.  I see the joy in their faces and the hope they espouse. 


Each day that I am in our Diocese, I cannot believe how fortunate I am to be in this place and at this time.  Over time, you will hear me saying that I pray that my Episcopacy will be formed around prayer, proclamation, and peace.  The churches visited are proclaiming the good news of our Lord, and I can feel the Kingdom surrounding these places of worship.  I also want to reiterate that I carry with me the q…

Week 11 of the Come and See Tour - Trinity, St. Peter's (St. Philip) Our Saviour, and St. John

My brothers and sisters, we continue this beautiful journey in the Come and See pilgrimage. With each stop, each conversation, each suggestion we build this beloved community.  As the pilgrimage continues, I go deeper and deeper into the belief that “a shepherd should smell like the sheep.”  In this way, I will learn to be a shepherd that leads “with” you.  At times the shepherd leads from the front and in other instances walks a few steps behind.  The truth is that we walk together.  Each step allows me to stand in humble awe of the sacred trust I have been given.  I fully understand that the shepherd does not own the sheep.  The shepherd cares for the sheep for the Master, and the Master is Jesus Christ. 
As we journey forward to Lent, you will hear me speaking of the desire (heard throughout the pilgrimage) to go deeper spiritually and with prayer.  I will be recording my Lenten message, and you will hear me speak of prayer, proclamation, and peace.  Everything we do, everything we …
